Maybank Syariah Indonesia
PT Bank Maybank Syariah Indonesia
Background
PT Bank Maybank Syariah Indonesia (MSI) is a full fledged syariah Bank established on 11 October 2010. MSI was formally called PT Bank Maybank Indocorp (BMI), a conventional bank established in January 1995 which was also the first Malaysian bank to set up a joint venture bank in Indonesia. Maybank has a 96.83% stake in BMI with PT Perusahaan Pengelola Aset holding the remaining equity. BMI offered a full range of conventional banking services including large-scale financing for corporate and commercial customers in Indonesia.
On 23 September 2010, BMI was granted approval by the Bank of Indonesia (the Centarl Bank) to convert into a Syariah bank and renamed PT Bank Maybank Syariah Indonesia (MSI).
