Maybank Bahain is the only Southeast Asian bank operating an Offshore Banking Unit (OBU) in the Middle East region. Maybank Bahrain commenced its conventional and Islamic banking operations on 1 September 2002.

Islamic banking is the main focus of Maybank Bahrain's OBU business. It complements our other offshore banking subsidiary, Maybank International (L) Ltd, as part of Maybank's Islamic banking network. The OBU also serves as a conduit facilitating the flow of economic capital between the Middle East region and Malaysia, apart from providing alternative investment opportunities for investors in the Middle East region.
